Binance bStocks Overtakes xStocks to Become the Second Largest Tokenized Stock Issuer

Source Cryptopolitan

Binance bStocks growth story since launching in June has been nothing short of remarkable. In terms of market share, it is now the second largest issuer of tokenized stocks by market cap. Token Terminal data shows that the product is now at a $610.6 million market cap, or 22.1% of the entire sector. Backed’s xStocks, which was the second largest tokenized token issuer for a close to a year, sits just behind at $601.2 million while Ondo Finance is still the leader of the category with $951.8 million and a 34.4% share.

The tokenized stocks category is changing rapidly and with under $10 million separating second from third, these rankings could very likely flip. That said, the speed of bStocks’ growth is undeniable. The product went live on June 11 and nine weeks later it has gone past a product that had a much longer head start across multiple chains and platforms.

The New Supply Went to Binance Rather Than Away From xStocks

Latest data shows that the tokenized stock market is now roughly worth $2.8 billion. At the start of the year, this number was at $569.76 million. That is around a growth of 391%. Over the same period, xStocks actually grew around 228% as well. Its share of the pie shrank because the pie got bigger and Binance took most of the new slice. In this sense, Binance did not win customers away from its competition but rather was able to reach new buyers who were not exposed to this market a few months ago and Binance’s own data points the same way.

Buying bStocks Takes the Same Clicks as Buying Any Other Token

bStocks trades within the Binance app just like any other spot token does against USDT. A user with a balance already on the exchange can buy tokenized Nvidia the same way they buy SOL. The friction is essentially removed here as everything can be done within one platform without having to bridge or have a separate onboarding flow.

The conversion mechanism removes another layer. Anyone who owns the underlying share through Nest Trading, Binance’s broker-dealer, can convert it into a bStock at 1:1 with no fee, and convert straight back. Nothing is locked in either direction. Holding the token becomes a reversible decision rather than a commitment.

Ondo Leads the Market Without Owning a Venue

Ondo mints through other companies’ front ends, Binance’s among them. The model works, and the numbers show it working. Growth under that structure depends on whoever controls the interface where the minting happens.

Kraken is the closer structural comparison. It owns Backed and runs its own exchange, giving it issuance and distribution under one roof, which is the same setup Binance has. The user base is not in the same range.

The Chart Measures Minting, Not Trading

Market cap by issuer counts how much has been created, not how much changes hands. A token sitting untouched in a wallet weighs the same as one that turns over every day. Measured that way, the venue with the largest existing account base has the shortest path to the top of the table. Binance had the accounts before it had the product, and the product inherited them.

Tokenized equities have spent two years as a debate about custody structures, settlement rails and which regulatory wrapper survives contact with a securities regulator. The lead changed hands for a simpler reason. One issuer put the buy button where people were already standing. Whether trading activity follows the same curve as issuance is a separate question, and the current data does not answer it.
