Commercial loan production reached nearly $4 billion in the first nine months.
Total criticized and classified loans declined by $93 million quarter over quarter.
Treasury management net revenue increased 40% year over year to $2.6 million.
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 22, 2026, WesBanco (NASDAQ:WSBC) reported nearly $4 billion in record nine-month commercial loan production. Expanding into higher-growth southern markets gives the regional lender a new engine for organic balance sheet growth. Three takeaways from management's comments illustrate where the business is heading.
WesBanco doubled its lending momentum over two years by hiring local commercial teams in Florida and Tennessee. Establishing loan production offices, which are regional sites focused on commercial lending rather than taking branch deposits, gives the bank a path to outpace commercial real estate payoffs.
Through the first 9 months of the year, our commercial teams generated record loan production of nearly $4 billion, a 70% increase from prior year period.
-- Jeffrey Jackson, President and Chief Executive Officer
Maturing loans and low-yielding bonds are rolling over into higher market interest rates. That upward repricing protects net interest margin, the difference between interest earned on loans and interest paid on deposits, even if competition pushes deposit costs higher.
The 3.60% is very defendable as we look into 2027 for sure. Certainly, lots of asset back book repricing to occur between securities and loans.
-- Daniel Weiss, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Management reduced criticized loans, which are borrowing relationships showing signs of financial strain, by $93 million during the quarter. Clearing out these troubled credits lowers expected credit losses and stabilizes the balance sheet.
Most notably, our criticized and classified loans decreased $93 million or 55 basis points from the second quarter to represent 3.19% of total loans.
-- Daniel Weiss, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Commercial loan pipelines remain solid as regional expansion accelerates. Branch consolidation protects operating leverage while management focuses on deposit gathering.
With strong momentum across our franchise and a robust commercial pipeline, we believe we are well positioned to build on that performance in the quarters ahead.
