On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 30, 2026, Jinko Holdings (NYSE:JKS) announced a sequential gross margin recovery to 12.3%. The shift toward premium solar technology and profitable energy storage systems marks a turning point for long-term margins. Three key updates from management clarify the outlook.

1. Energy Storage Reaches Operational Profitability

Management turned the battery energy storage system (BESS), which stores electricity for power grids and large facilities, into a positive contributor to quarterly operating profit. Storage shipments are expanding rapidly while carrying gross margins of 15% to 20%, well above traditional solar module margins.

We recognized approximately 1.75 gigawatt-hour of energy storage shipments as revenue, matching the total recognized for the whole of last year with the business also generating positive quarterly operating profit for the first time.
-- Dimi Du, Chief Executive Officer of Jinko Holdings Limited

2. Premium Solar Modules Command Higher Pricing

The company is shifting production toward Tiger Neo 3 high-efficiency solar modules, which convert more sunlight into power than standard panels. These premium modules now command an extra $0.01 per watt over conventional products, boosting overall shipment profitability.

We continue to optimize our product mix with the shipments of Tiger Neo 3 modules exceeding 5 gigawatts during the quarter and commanding a premium for approximately USD 0.01 per watt over conventional modules.
-- Dimi Du, Chief Executive Officer of Jinko Holdings Limited

3. Parent Company Directs Capital to Strategic Tech Investments

Management clarified that the holding company won't inject additional capital into its manufacturing subsidiary, JinkoSolar Company Limited. Instead, the team is deploying cash into high-tech sectors like artificial intelligence and semiconductor chips to build long-term equity value.

So back to your question, they're not going to allocate additional capital to the manufacturing business and the focus will be the kind of strategic investment and including traditional solar storage related and to more broad high-tech sectors.
-- Charlie Cao, Chief Executive Officer of JinkoSolar Company Limited

Looking Ahead

Solar equipment prices are bottoming out across global markets. At the same time, national efficiency standards are forcing less efficient factory capacity out of the industry. And rather than chasing raw market share gains, the business is prioritizing cash flow discipline and higher-margin orders.

We will maintain our operating strategy of balancing sales volume and profitability, continue to optimize our product and order book and exercise strict control over capital expenditure in order to make the improvement in our operating performance more sustainable.
-- Dimi Du, Chief Executive Officer of Jinko Holdings Limited

On the capital allocation side, disciplined spending across energy storage expansion and venture technology investments should provide structural defense as market pricing stabilizes.

By improving the performance of our core solar and energy storage business and progressively realizing the value of our portfolio, we remain committed to creating sustainable long-term value for our shareholders.
-- Dimi Du, Chief Executive Officer of Jinko Holdings Limited
