TradingKey - Qualcomm (QCOM) hosts the Snapdragon Summit 2026 from September 22 to 24. This year's Snapdragon Summit agenda places Agentic AI in a more prominent position, covering mobile AI, personal AI, and AI PCs.
For investors, beyond next-generation chips and AI features, the market is more focused on whether Qualcomm can leverage on-device AI to expand Snapdragon's reach in non-smartphone markets such as PCs and gradually increase the revenue contribution from related businesses.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon will detail Snapdragon's strategy in the era of Agentic AI at the summit. The September 23 agenda also covers Personal AI, Agentic PCs, and a unified AI computing software layer further integrated following Qualcomm's acquisition of Modular.
Qualcomm is pushing for more AI tasks to be performed on-device while collaborating with cloud computing. Applications such as AnythingLLM, Pokee AI, and LLMWare have already demonstrated local AI processing capabilities on Snapdragon X Series PCs, covering agent scenarios including document processing, search, and workflow automation.
As AI agents gradually transition from Q&A tools to continuously running personal assistants, demand on end-user devices for local computing power, memory bandwidth, and energy efficiency is expected to rise. Qualcomm previously projected that Agentic AI could drive a new upgrade cycle for smart devices in the future.
On the day before the summit, Qualcomm announced that Snapdragon X Elite is featured in the first batch of Googlebook laptops. Googlebook is a brand-new Android laptop category launched by Google (GOOGL), designed around Gemini Intelligence, with the first Dell and HP models already open for pre-order.
This partnership further extends Snapdragon X from Windows PCs to Google's new laptop platform, while adding a new product channel for Qualcomm to expand the reach of its PC business.
Going forward, key metrics to watch include Googlebook sales, the number of models adopting Snapdragon X, and revenue growth in Qualcomm's PC business. These indicators will determine whether Googlebook and Snapdragon X can generate sustained incremental PC revenue.
In the short term, the market will focus on whether the Snapdragon Summit announces new flagship chips, PC vendor partnerships, and on-device AI applications.
In the medium to long term, it will depend on two key metrics: whether Snapdragon X can continue to expand its PC market share, and whether on-device AI can drive smartphone and PC replacement demand.
If these businesses begin to contribute more visible revenue growth, the market's valuation of Qualcomm will no longer depend solely on the smartphone chip cycle. Conversely, if AI PC sales and end-user replacement demand fall short of expectations, the market momentum generated by the summit may be difficult to translate into sustained earnings growth.
