On the earnings call held on Oct. 29, 2026, to review results for its 2027 fiscal first quarter ended Oct. 2, Sandisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) reported quarterly revenue of $11 billion. Demand for NAND flash memory, a non-volatile storage chip technology, is accelerating as artificial intelligence workloads expand. Long-term customer contracts give management direct visibility into future bit allocations. Three takeaways from management explain how this market dynamic shapes the business.

1. New Business Models Lock In Long-Term Demand Signals Through 2030

Sandisk uses new business model (NBM) agreements, which are multiyear customer volume commitments backed by financial guarantees, to lock in supply allocations. These contracts insulate revenue from short-term spot market pricing swings.

We're in active conversations with existing NBM customers that are evaluating extending existing agreements, and with new customers that are evaluating new NBMs. These long-term partnerships provide greater visibility into demand and financial performance, supporting a more durable financial model.
-- Luis Visoso, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

2. Data Center Bits Expand To Represent Half Of Total Memory Demand

Enterprise servers require vast arrays of flash storage to maintain working context during artificial intelligence inference processing. Data center applications now account for half of all industry memory bits, up from 20% earlier this decade.

This structural shift in customer mix is reshaping industry economics and is central to the transformation underway at Sandisk. This quarter, data center again delivered strong growth and continued to outpace the broader market as we allocated more supply to address the growing demand from this end market.
-- David V. Goeckeler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

3. Share Repurchases Recaptured 4% Of Total Shares Outstanding In Two Quarters

With $5.1 billion in cash and zero debt, management funnels free cash flow, which is operating cash flow minus capital expenditures, directly into share buybacks. The company retired 6 million shares over six months, which represented approximately 4% of our total shares outstanding.

Our repurchases reflect our conviction in the long-term value of the business and our disciplined approach to capital allocation. We continue to invest appropriately in the business while returning 100% of excess cash to shareholders.
-- Luis Visoso, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Looking Ahead

Artificial intelligence infrastructure expansion is driving enterprise storage demand, positioning Sandisk to generate durable cash flow. Proprietary cell technology and multiyear customer commitments strengthen its market position.

Our confidence in the long-term trajectory of the business is grounded in three enduring strengths: technology leadership, deep customer partnerships, and disciplined financial management.
-- David V. Goeckeler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Management maintains disciplined capital spending focused on mid-single-digit percentage levels of revenue while funneling surplus cash into share buybacks. Confidence in the long-term health of the market resulted in Sandisk’s Board of Directors approving an 8-for-1 stock split to be distributed on Nov. 19, 2026.

Execution across enterprise memory nodes remains the primary operational focus.

We have established a strong level of profitability and cash generation, and our focus from here is consistent execution across the portfolio.
-- David V. Goeckeler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
