Anthropic is one of the most important companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) space, and it will likely soon become one of the most important companies on the stock market. Anthropic is the company behind the Claude AI suite -- a frontier model that's best in class for coding and a range of other enterprise-focused applications.

Recent reports suggest that the AI leader is gearing up to have its IPO sometime around mid-November, with the target of going public before the Thanksgiving holiday. What do investors need to know about this potentially massive IPO that could be on the near horizon?

Missed AI’s "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we’re only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

Does a lower IPO valuation suggest a big short-term opportunity for investors?

While the company was once expected to go public at a valuation of roughly $2 trillion, recent developments suggest that the initial tranche of shares could be priced at a significantly lower level. Following signs of growth deceleration and other market catalysts, reports suggest the AI leader could now be targeting a debut valuation of roughly $1.5 trillion. That's still absolutely nothing to sneeze at and would make the company the second-largest IPO by market capitalization in history -- trailing only Space Exploration Technologies.

However, retail investors should understand that they probably won't be able to buy Anthropic stock at its initial listing price. When a stock first goes public, the initial tranche of shares is typically only available to institutional investors and other large buyers. When it comes to hotly anticipated technology IPOs, it's not unusual for shares to open trading on the public markets at a price significantly above the initial listing price.

Given Anthropic's status as a leading technology player in frontier artificial intelligence models, it wouldn't be surprising to see the company's share price close its first day of trading well above its initial listing price. IPO dynamics in recent years suggest the stock stands a good chance of opening well above its listing price and ending its first day of trading even higher, but that doesn't mean investors should feel safe about plans to score big, short-term gains.

For example, SpaceX set its IPO price at $135 per share -- but the stock opened at $150 per share when it began trading on the public market. By the end of the day, the company's stock had risen to $161. While the stock reached a lifetime high of more than $225.50 per share just a few days later, it has since lost ground and trades below its opening price of $150 per share as of this writing.

Anthropic has incredible technology, but the company will almost certainly go public at a valuation highly dependent on growth. With recent volatility in AI stock valuations, investors should be cautious about plans to score quick wins with an IPO and are probably better off assessing potential investments in Anthropic on a long-term basis.

Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again

In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. If you’d invested $5,000 then, you’d be sitting on $2,821,947 today.*

Now, for the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. It’s a key player in the $1.8 trillion space race, and with the stock recently sitting 20% off its highs, the window to get in early is closing fast.

Dollar presses 102 as the 10-year yield sits at 5.14% — and October hike odds are only 17%The dollar index closed at 101.99 (+0.20%) on Monday after briefly topping 102.07, while the 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.14% and the 2-year hit 4.774% — yet futures price only about a 17% chance of a hike at the October 27-28 FOMC, versus roughly 90% for December. The driver is a global bond selloff, not a Fed repricing: France's 10-year OAT jumped to 4.84% ~ 4.94% and the OAT-Bund spread widened to 140 ~ 146bp. Here are the levels, the cross-asset read-through and what to watch.
