Magic revenue grew 34% to exceed $600 million.
Licensing businesses generate nearly $700 million in annual revenue.
Owned inventory decreased 10% year over year to $359 million.
On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 20, 2026, Hasbro (NASDAQ:HAS) raised its full-year outlook after revenue grew 15% year over year. Expanding trading card distribution and structural cost reductions are driving higher profitability across core brand categories. Three key takeaways from management explain where the business is heading.
Hasbro attracts new players to Magic: The Gathering, its flagship trading card game, by partnering with popular intellectual property (IP), or licensed entertainment franchises. Expanded distribution to mass retailers and independent hobby shops has increased player participation in store tournaments.
Fans come in through IP they already love, and expanded distribution makes it easier to find us. They stay because deep gameplay married with best-in-class fan experiences distinguishes Magic from other trading card games.
-- Christian Cocks, Chief Executive Officer
Licensing brand intellectual property allows the company to generate high-margin revenue across digital gaming, entertainment, and consumer products, its traditional toy and board game segment. Partner companies supply the capital for product manufacturing, which insulates Hasbro from production expenses.
The company plans to build on its position as a top five global licensor through five priorities: construct an enterprisewide franchise system, scale licensed consumer products, accelerate location-based entertainment, diversify digital licensing via mobile, PC, and console titles, and employ entertainment and music to create fandom.
What connects all 5 strategies is the same asset light model. And these businesses generate nearly $700 million in annual revenue across consumer products, digital, and entertainment.
-- Christian Cocks, Chief Executive Officer
Cost productivity programs and supply chain efficiencies are restoring profitability in the consumer products division. Lower distribution expenses and tighter inventory management helped offset higher raw material prices during the quarter.
The underlying improvement is the durable part of the story, and it is broad based. Supply chain productivity, lower distribution costs, disciplined operating expense, and favorable business mix, was more than able to offset higher input costs.
-- Gina Goetter, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Digital game development spending is passing its peak, and profit margins are expanding across Wizards of the Coast, the tabletop and digital gaming segment.
And as previously noted, 2026 is the peak investment year for digital gaming, which means the spending curve begins to work in our favor from here. As we wrap up, Q3 was a quarter of execution. Wizards is scaling profitably and doing it at a size that was not possible two years ago.
-- Gina Goetter, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer
Long-term licensing contracts, lean retail inventories, and growing card game participation support future growth. Leadership continues to prioritize cost discipline and balance sheet deleveraging, or paying down corporate debt.
Our cost discipline is funding the investments that will drive 2027 and beyond. We are raising our outlook with confidence, and we remain focused on closing the year from a position of strength.
