XRP is up more than 25,000% since launch, but still trades for just $1.50.
According to Standard Chartered, XRP has 20x upside potential and could trade as high as $28 by 2030.
The two key catalysts for XRP are institutional adoption and regulatory clarity.
Since its launch in 2013, XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is up a head-spinning 25,000%. That's why crypto investors continue to tout XRP as a potentially life-changing investment.
But is it, really? After all, even with those stratospheric gains, XRP still trades for a price of just $1.50 today. And it has never traded above $3.84. So why are investors so convinced that XRP will soar significantly higher in the coming years?

The bull case for XRP is built on two key pillars. The first key pillar is typically referred to as "institutional adoption." It basically refers to banks and financial institutions embracing the XRP blockchain ledger as a quick, efficient, and low-cost way to move money around the world.
To make that a reality, Ripple (the company behind the XRP token) has invested billions of dollars to build the required blockchain-powered infrastructure. Today, hundreds of banks and financial institutions use the Ripple payment network. Going forward, if those "hundreds" turn into "thousands," XRP could be headed much higher.

The second key pillar is regulatory clarity. Until this year, this meant clearing up the regulatory uncertainty surrounding Ripple. In August 2025, for example, the SEC finally settled its long-running case against Ripple, allowing the company to get back to business as usual. It also paved the way for the launch of new spot XRP ETFs in November.
Going forward, regulatory clarity refers to the passage of new crypto legislation, such as the Clarity Act, that will make it easier for Ripple (XRP) to integrate into the global financial infrastructure. Already, Ripple has made a splash in cross-border payments. An important new frontier for the company includes asset tokenization.
Just how high can XRP go? There are some incredibly bullish price targets out there. It's easy to find price targets of $100 or higher, for example, which implies 100x upside potential for XRP.
But the most realistic bull-case scenario comes from Standard Chartered, which has created a multi-year pricing model for XRP. According to Standard Chartered, XRP will eventually reach $28 by 2030.
At that point, XRP will have a total market cap of approximately $1.7 trillion. That's nearly the same market cap that Bitcoin attained at the very peak of the 2025 bull market rally. So, obviously, it's a very aggressive price target for XRP.
And that's what worries me. XRP has always over-promised and under-delivered. There has been so much hype and buzz around XRP, yet it has never traded higher than $4.
At best, XRP might have 20x upside potential. That's based on XRP hitting a future price of $28. If you invest $5,000 today, it could grow to $100,000. That's certainly a nice chunk of change, but I wouldn't call it a life-changing investment.
