On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Nov. 2, 2026, BWX Technologies (NYSE:BWXT) reported 10% top-line growth to $953 million and raised the low end of its full-year free cash flow guidance. The nuclear component manufacturer continues to capitalize on rising global energy security needs, converting sovereign and commercial interest into multiyear defense contracts. Three key insights from management stand out for long-term investors.

1. Uranium Infrastructure for Defense Drives Government Growth

The company's Government Operations segment generated a 22.6% adjusted EBITDA margin (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, which is a measure of core operational cash flow) as high-purity depleted uranium (HPDU, a dense material used in strategic defense applications) programs scaled up. BWX Technologies started constructing a dedicated manufacturing plant to support long-term defense demand.

On HPDU, as part of our $1.6 billion contract to produce 300 metric tons of high-purity depleted uranium annually, we initiated construction of a new large-scale facility in Jonesborough, Tennessee, that will drive meaningful revenue growth in the fourth quarter and through 2027.
-- Rex Geveden, President and Chief Executive Officer

2. Plant Expansion Boosts Heavy Component Production

The Commercial Operations segment posted 25% total revenue growth while expanding physical operations to handle surging nuclear power market demand. The company finished enlarging its Canadian facility to execute on backlog for reactor refurbishments and small modular reactors (SMRs, scaled-down nuclear power plants built in factories).

During the quarter, we completed the expansion of our Cambridge facility and began utilizing new sections of the plant. The expansion increases our heavy component manufacturing capacity by about 50% and will improve operating efficiency and throughput as we execute on our deep backlog associated with... SMR projects and other new awards.
-- Rex Geveden, President and Chief Executive Officer

3. Advanced Microreactor Tech Wins Commercial Contracts

Commercial and military demand for specialized microreactors expanded across global markets. The company expanded its contract pipeline for the BWXT Advanced Nuclear Reactor and tri-structural isotropic (TRISO, a high-temperature resistant nuclear fuel) manufacturing lines.

These awards are tangible proof of BWXT's leading position in the advanced nuclear market as we uniquely combine microreactor technology, TRISO fuel manufacturing, and life cycle services into a differentiated integrated offering.
-- Rex Geveden, President and Chief Executive Officer

Looking Ahead

Nuclear demand is accelerating across national security and commercial power markets. BWX Technologies leverages high-barrier manufacturing assets and proprietary fuel processing to maintain operational momentum.

Looking ahead to 2027, our preliminary outlook reinforces the financial trajectory outlined at Investor Day. We expect high single-digit to low double-digit growth in Adjusted EBITDA and adjusted earnings per share.
-- Michael Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Capital allocation prioritizes organic facility expansions while management tracks commercial bid pipeline conversion into firm multiyear contracts.

We recognize the significant opportunities ahead of us and know that long-term value creation depends on converting those opportunities into profitable growth and strong cash generation. BWXT is exceptionally well positioned to do that, and our performance this quarter underscores our confidence in the 2030 financial targets we established at Investor Day.
-- Rex Geveden, President and Chief Executive Officer

Micron's $4.5 billion Taiwan fab won't make a chip until 2028 — the market sold it as a 2026 problemMicron fell 17.46% to $656.39 after Bloomberg reported construction at its $4.5 billion Taoyuan Fab 11E had all but halted over a labor dispute. The plant was not due online until 2028, so no 2026 output is lost. With FY27 EPS consensus near $160 and 2027 HBM sold out, the selloff is a peak-cycle multiple reset, not a demand collapse — and $650 is the line that separates the two.
