Piper Sandler generated third-quarter adjusted net revenues of $456 million.
Energy group completed 19 advisory transactions, more than doubling year-ago results.
The board authorized a new $200 million share repurchase program through 2028.
On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 30, 2026, Piper Sandler (NYSE:PIPR) announced third-quarter adjusted net revenues of $456 million. Specializing in high-demand niches gives the investment bank cash flow resilience across shifting market cycles. Three things management said stand out.
Power generation and grid infrastructure investments are accelerating across the energy sector. That momentum helped Piper Sandler expand its advisory work and double transaction counts for its energy team over the year-ago period.
Increased demand for energy to power the growth in AI data centers helped drive record quarterly revenues for our diversified energy group.
-- Chad Abraham, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Depository institutions are consolidating through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) despite broader transaction slowdowns. Piper Sandler maintains top league table positions by advising on major regional bank deals, helping ensure steady fee generation.
We advised on 6 of the 10 largest bank M&A deals announced during the third quarter and remained at the top of the year-to-date league tables for both deal count and deal value, underscoring the ongoing strength of this franchise.
-- Chad Abraham, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Rapidly rising interest rates delayed public sector project financings, which reduced municipal underwriting revenue. Fixed income trading revenue rose as institutional clients restructured balance sheets and executed tax-loss swaps to adapt to higher yields.
Client activity strengthened as rising interest rates prompted investors to adjust their holdings. We saw increased activity across taxable and municipal products as investors took advantage of higher rates, increased hedging activity, or engaged in tax-loss selling.
-- Debbra Schoneman, President
Deal pipelines are building momentum as corporate leaders prepare for fourth-quarter transactions.
Looking to the fourth quarter, our advisory pipeline is healthy, positioning us for what we expect will be our strongest quarter of the year, although below last year's record fourth quarter.
-- Chad Abraham, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
The firm's deep sector specialization in energy and financial depositories gives it strong structural advantages for long-term deal capture. That said, management is paying close attention to transaction timing amid persistent inflation and market volatility. And as deals close, excess cash flows directly back to shareholders through equity repurchases.
Our cash position remains strong, and at our current valuation, we intend to deploy excess capital through share repurchases.
-- Kate Clune, Chief Financial Officer
