The transition toward renewable energy is creating massive opportunities for infrastructure providers. Eos Energy Enterprises (NASDAQ:EOSE) and GE Vernova (NYSE:GEV) represent two distinct ways to play this trend in 2026.

Eos focuses on specialized zinc-based batteries for long-duration energy storage. GE Vernova is a diversified giant that services a massive portion of the world's electricity grid. Comparing these two helps clarify whether you prefer a high-growth disruptor or an established power leader.

The case for Eos Energy Enterprises

Eos Energy Enterprises produces aqueous zinc batteries designed as a safer, scalable alternative to lithium-ion. It operates primarily within the industrial stocks space, targeting utilities and commercial developers. Customer concentration like this adds a layer of risk to the business, as two clients accounted for approximately 70% of total revenue in 2025.

In FY 2025, revenue reached approximately $114.2 million. This represents growth of nearly 631.8% compared to the prior fiscal year. The company reported a pre-tax net loss of roughly $969.6 million, resulting in a negative net margin of approximately 849.1%.

As of its December 2025 balance sheet, the company had a debt-to-equity ratio of -1.0x. This value indicates that total liabilities exceed shareholder equity. The current ratio, which measures the ability to cover short term obligations with short term assets, was approximately 4.9x, while free cash flow was nearly negative $265.0 million.

The case for GE Vernova

GE Vernova manages a massive global installed base that helps generate approximately 25% of the world's electricity. It serves a global client base including power utilities and industrial firms like Chevron (NYSE:CVX). The company maintains a heavy focus on long-term service agreements to provide steady and predictable revenue streams.

In FY 2025, revenue reached approximately $38.1 billion. This reflects a growth rate of roughly 8.9% over the previous fiscal period. Net income for the year was nearly $4.9 billion, which equates to a positive net margin of approximately 12.8%.

As of December 2025, GE Vernova reported a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.0x. The company maintained a current ratio of nearly 1.0x, suggesting its current assets roughly match its current liabilities. Free cash flow, which is cash from operations minus capital expenditures, reached approximately $3.7 billion during the period.

Risk profile comparison

Eos Energy Enterprises faces significant risks regarding its liquidity and dependence on outside capital to fund its expansion. The company must scale its manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania while managing potential production delays or quality issues with its Z3 battery line. Additionally, it faces stiff competition from established players like Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) in the energy storage market.

GE Vernova deals with execution risks in its offshore wind segment, including legal disputes and potential margin compression from fixed-price contracts. Supply chain volatility and evolving environmental regulations also pose ongoing challenges for its global operations. The company competes with major international firms such as Siemens Energy (OTC:SMEGF) across its power generation and electrification segments.

Valuation comparison

Eos Energy currently does not have a meaningful Forward P/E because the company is not yet profitable.

Which stock would I buy in 2026?

I'd go with GE Vernova. Every utility and data center operator racing to meet surging electricity demand needs what GE Vernova builds, and that demand keeps accelerating. As evidenced by its record backlog, orders that more than doubling year over year, and dramatically raised free cash flow guidance, this is one of the strongest industrial growth stories in the market right now.

Eos Energy is not without its bright spots. Its zinc-based battery technology is American-made and gaining traction in long-duration energy storage. Revenue more than tripled year over year, and a record backlog signals genuine customer demand. But Eos missed earnings estimates by a wide margin in Q2 and the stock has lost more than half its value year to date. Gross margins are deeply negative as the company scales manufacturing and profitability is still years away.

GE Vernova is already generating substantial free cash flow while Eos is still working to prove its technology can scale profitably. That gap in financial maturity makes this an easy call.
