TradingKey - Microsoft lists a verified $501.02 for MSFT on September 1, closing at $501.02, in-line with the $501.14 chart reference. The stock had pulled back from $517.78, but Microsoft is defending the support zone at $498.87 to $499.23. Defensive stock fundamentals include Azure's growth, the adoption of Copilot, and a robust $678B commercial backlog. In contrast, a U.S. 10-year yield at 4.81% ensures valuation risk.
During the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, Microsoft reported $90.0 billion in revenue with a 18% year over year increase. Microsoft reported $40.6 billion in operating income with Azure and other cloud services reporting 43% year over year growth. For the quarter, Microsoft Cloud Platform reported $59.3 billion in revenue also an increase of 27%. Performance obligations related to Microsoft’s Commercial business increased by 84% to $678 billion.
Microsoft 365 Copilot reached over 30 million paid seats, with net paid-seat additions more than doubling quarter over quarter. Microsoft says Maia 200 provides more than 30% better performance per dollar than the latest-generation hardware in its fleet and supports both OpenAI and Microsoft’s own MAI models. Copilot workload throughput has increased fourfold since the start of 2026.
This performance matters because the next phase of AI competition will move away from whose equipment has the better GPUs and more towards cost per workload. Reuters reported that Maia 300 could be unveiled as early as September 2026. Microsoft has not given any indication to the public that this will happen.
Two main risks are in cloud margins and constrained power. Microsoft Cloud gross margin declined to 65% in fiscal Q4 2026, from 68% the year prior, reflecting the cost of the quick builds of AI infrastructure. The optimistic position holds that the custom silicon, better use and higher margin software will offset this in the end.
There are constraints of physical power as walls are being hit. Microsoft added an additional gigawatt of capacity in Q4 and aims to double this capacity in the next 2 years, but the U.S. data center grid requests are now at over 700 GW. Even with strong demand, power connections can create a bottleneck, leading to delays.
Higher yields on U.S. treasuries have raised the valuation bar. The U.S. 10-year treasury yields are at 4.81% as of September 2, with inflation, and government expenditures putting pressure on bond markets, also with oil prices remaining elevated.
EU General Court ruling removes one legal burden but won’t be a major earnings catalyst. An Opera challenge to European Commission decision not to classify Microsoft Edge as a Digital Markets Act gatekeeper by A small company-specific positive arrived today.

With a value of 50, RSI is also neutral. If $498.87 breaks, then it will create a risk of a sell towards $494.88-$492.21 and $485.18.
