On its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 27, 2026, CenterPoint Energy (NYSE:CNP) raised its full-year guidance range for non-GAAP EPS, which represents adjusted earnings per share after removing one-time accounting items, to $1.90 to $1.92. Electric customer demand in its Houston service territory is expanding rapidly across commercial and industrial operations.

Here are three key takeaways from management.

1. Houston Infrastructure Growth Drives $4 Billion Capital Increase

Industrial expansion in Greater Houston is driving commercial energy demand, pushing regional leasing activity up over 30% year over year. To support this demand, the utility plans to energize at least 14 gigawatts, or billions of watts of electrical capacity, by 2030.

Houston Electric's more than 10 gigawatts of existing system capacity helped attract this demand by enabling fast, efficient and cost-effective interconnections, giving Greater Houston a compelling speed to market advantage over competing regions across the country.
-- Jason Wells, Chair and Chief Executive Officer

2. Enterprise Rate Base Growth Reaches 14% Through 2030

Grid investments expand the utility's rate base, which is the total value of property on which regulators allow a company to earn a specified return. The company expects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR), or average yearly growth rate, of over 14% for its rate base through 2030.

We will begin deploying this capital in 2027 and scale the investment in the years that follow, deploying $4.5 billion of the incremental and accelerated investments by the end of 2030 and driving an enterprise rate base CAGR of more than 14% through 2030.
-- Christopher Foster, Chief Financial Officer

3. Efficient Financing Strategy Minimizes Shareholder Equity Dilution

Management plans to fund $4 billion in new capital investments while issuing only $1.6 billion in new common stock. The company utilizes capital trackers, which are regulatory mechanisms that allow rapid rate recovery on grid projects, to minimize financial lag.

Across the $5.7 billion of capital plan increases announced this year, incremental equity represents only about 25% of the funding requirement, demonstrating the efficiency of our financing plan.
-- Christopher Foster, Chief Financial Officer

Looking Ahead

Power demand in Greater Houston is accelerating rapidly across commercial and data center customers, and management is eager to capitalize on it. Existing system capacity and brownfield rights-of-way give the utility a distinct speed-to-market advantage, while leadership tracks capital allocation efficiency and customer bill affordability.

Beyond today's $4 billion increase, we continue to see at least $10 billion of additional investment opportunities through 2035, driven by 3 categories.
-- Jason Wells, Chair and Chief Executive Officer

This long-term pipeline highlights how expanding regional power demand continues to reinforce the company's financial foundation.

In closing, we continue to believe that we have one of the most customer-driven and durable long-term growth plans in the industry.
-- Jason Wells, Chair and Chief Executive Officer
