Foolish Take

The quarterly revenue trends for Cerebras Systems and Nebius paint an insightful picture about these two young companies. In 2024, Cerebras' sales outpaced Nebius. Since then, that has reversed, demonstrating the massive demand for the cloud infrastructure provided by Nebius. This illustrates how the artificial intelligence boom has dramatically transformed Nebius' business.

Also noteworthy is how Cerebras was consistently delivering quarter-over-quarter sales growth, but that stopped in the second quarter of this year. This was the result of the amortization of customer warrant assets to the tune of $28 million, which is deducted from revenue. If not for this, Q2 revenue would have continued the company’s quarter-over-quarter growth trajectory.

That said, Nebius is operating at another level entirely at this point. Its Q2 sales of $582.3 million was an enormous 454% year-over-year increase. That's how much customer demand has soared in just the past year as tech companies jockey for AI dominance.

Nvidia's $150 billion buyback landed — and the AI sector fell anyway. That's the signal worth tradingNvidia closed up 1.68% at $228.86 on 28 September after announcing a $150 billion share repurchase authorisation, the largest single corporate buyback on record, while the rest of the AI complex sold off: AMD -3.6%, Micron -2.6%, Meta -4.8% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index -1.61%. The divergence is not noise. Capital is rotating toward cash-flow certainty, not abandoning the AI theme. With Micron reporting after the close on 30 September, here is what the split means.
