CoinMarketCap's 115 million users get CoinGlass liquidation and funding data after buyout

CoinMarketCap will add CoinGlass’s liquidation, funding rate, and open-interest data for its 115 million monthly users after acquiring the crypto derivatives tracker, the companies said on Friday.

The deal is completed, and neither company disclosed a price.

CoinGlass’s API, app and prices stay as they were

CoinGlass has been tracking more than 2,500 instruments across 28 exchanges since 2019. CoinMarketCap claims CoinGlass has more than 5 million monthly users and 10,000 API customers.

CoinGlass’s liquidation heatmap has become one of the charts traders pass around most, said CoinMarketCap.

CoinMarketCap chief executive Rush promised CoinGlass users would notice no difference. The site, app, free tools, API, and fee schedule all remain unchanged, as does its team, CoinGlass said.

Binance has owned the tracker since April 2020

CoinGlass made leverage data accessible to the average trader, said David Salamon, CoinMarketCap’s chief product officer.

CoinMarketCap plans to display leverage data alongside its spot prices and says derivatives now make up most of crypto’s trading volume.

Binance has been the owner of CoinMarketCap since April 2020. When Binance bought the cryptocurrency aggregator, it said the website would remain independent, and the exchange would not influence its rankings.

Blockworks acquired rival data company Messari in June, while S&P Global led an extension of Kaiko’s Series B to $110 million in September, according to Cryptopolitan.

Memory chips surge, Nasdaq notches a second straight record close — why the Dow fell 185 points anywayMicron gained 5%, SanDisk 6.8%, Seagate 4% and Western Digital 3% as the memory complex led the Nasdaq Composite to a second consecutive record close of 27,244.28. But the Dow fell 185 points as JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Schwab slid more than 3% each — a split tape that says more about positioning than about the economy.

US input costs rose at the fastest pace in four years — the September flash PMI beat is an inflation story, not a growth storyUS September flash PMIs came in far above expectations, with the composite at 58.4, a five-year high. But the detail that moved markets was input cost inflation at its fastest since October 2022, driven by fuel, transport and supply shortages. Brent is back above $100 and the 10-year Treasury yield has hit its highest since 2007.
