Crypto Market Today, Nov. 3: XRP and Zcash Defy Recent Weakness as Midterm Elections Take Center Stage

Source The Motley Fool

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) rose 1.49% to $77,828.21, Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) rose 1.98% to $2,293.77, and Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) rose 2.03% to $93.70. As of early evening on Nov. 3, the three coins were firmer even after a volatile session.

What's driving crypto markets

Broader financial markets regained some footing following several difficult sessions. The Nasdaq (NASDAQ:NDAQ) finished 0.83% higher, recovering alongside semiconductor stocks after concerns about artificial intelligence infrastructure spending and elevated valuations fueled a recent sell-off.

Bitcoin and crypto as a whole similarly rebounded from their intraday lows, although uncertainty surrounding the U.S. midterm elections and the broader economic outlook continues to present risks.

Crypto ETF snapshot

Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum funds were mostly higher alongside the coins, with iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (NASDAQ:IBIT) up 1.61%, Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (NYSEMKT:FBTC) up 1.62%, and iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (NASDAQ:ETHA) up 2.05%. This comes after consecutive days of spot outflows in Bitcoin ETFs, with $399 million in outflows on Monday, following $643 million on Friday.

What this means for investors

Tuesday's recovery offered some relief for cryptocurrency investors, with XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) and Zcash (CRYPTO:ZEC) standing out among the stronger performers. Despite the positive ending to the day, many cryptocurrencies remain significantly down from their early fall highs and momentum remains fragile.

Attention now turns to the U.S. midterm elections, which could influence expectations around fiscal spending, artificial intelligence regulation, and digital asset policy. While the results may help resolve some uncertainty, investors will be watching how the political landscape affects broader financial markets and risk appetite heading into 2027.
