Aptar recorded a $61.2 million charge after deconsolidating its Russian subsidiary.
On its third quarter of 2026 earnings call, held on Oct. 30, 2026, Aptar (NYSE:ATR) reported core sales growth of 5% across all three operating segments despite inventory drawdowns in emergency medicine. Long-term investors stand to benefit when a specialized packaging manufacturer can expand its high-margin pharmaceutical drug delivery pipeline while keeping balance sheet leverage low. Three takeaways from management's comments highlight the key forces shaping the business.
Pharma core sales grew 8% after excluding the $65 million annual headwind from emergency medicine destocking, where distributors reduce existing inventory rather than order new products. Management pointed to expansion across central nervous system therapies, eye care treatments, and over-the-counter conversions as evidence of the pipeline's breadth.
Our Pharma growth opportunities are not dependent on one product or one therapeutic category. It reflects the depth of our portfolio, innovation pipeline and the increasingly important role Aptar plays with customers across the drug development cycle.

Beauty core sales increased 8%, driven by demand for prestige fragrance pumps and cosmetics packaging. But profitability lagged because of operational inefficiencies in North America. Executive leadership emphasized that sales growth needs to convert into higher margins through tighter cost controls and operational discipline.
We have excellent technology, strong customer relationships and leading positions in attractive categories. At the same time, the margin performance, mostly in North America is not where it needs to be.
-- Gael Touya, President and CEO
In late September 2026, management deconsolidated its Russian operations after losing administrative control of the subsidiary, which primarily served the Closures segment. The accounting adjustment produced a pre-tax charge of $61.2 million. That said, management noted the unit is not material to ongoing revenue.
As a result of the loss of control, we have deconsolidated the Russian subsidiary effective September 21, 2026. We recorded a combined charge of $61.2 million before tax and $60.4 million after tax or $0.94 per diluted share.
-- Vanessa Kanu, Executive Vice President and CFO
Demand for pharmaceutical dispensing systems is accelerating across consumer healthcare, positioning the segment to drive fourth-quarter performance.
As we look to the remainder of the year, we expect Aptar to finish on a strong note, driven by Pharma.
-- Gael Touya, President and CEO
On the competitive side, proprietary drug delivery patents and global scale provide clear structural advantages. And leadership is focused on operational discipline to expand margins from here.
We focus where we have a differentiated position and the right to win. We will continue to focus to be the partner of choice for our customers and get back to the basics of execution with discipline, accountability and sense of ownership at every level of the organization.
