Here's What $10,000 Invested Equally in Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom Could Be Worth by 2030

Key Points

  • Nvidia continues to be well positioned as a major AI winner.

  • AMD is riding two important AI trends with agentic AI and inference.

  • Broadcom has a huge opportunity with custom AI chips.

  • 10 stocks we like better than Advanced Micro Devices ›

With $10,000, you can establish a meaningful position in a trio of semiconductor stocks that have the potential to lead the market higher over the next few years. In fact, by the end of 2030, a $10,000 investment spread equally among Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA), Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD), and Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) could be worth roughly $29,000.

Now, for an investment in these three stocks to work, the AI infrastructure boom will have to continue. If it doesn't, these semiconductor stocks will likely fall well short of that potential. However, with hyperscalers (owners of large data centers) seeing strong returns on their AI infrastructure investments and expected to continue spending aggressively, this looks like a good bet.

Missed AI’s "Act 1"? Act 2 Could Be 15x Bigger. Most investors think they missed the AI boat because they didn't buy Nvidia in 2005. But according to our analysts, we’re only at the end of "Act 1"—the R&D phase. "Act 2" is the global rollout. Continue »

Let's see how a $10,000 investment in these AI stocks could more than triple by 2030.

Nvidia (15.7 shares)

By splitting $10,000 evenly among the three stocks, you'd get 15.7 shares of Nvidia at the current $212.21 price. Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs) are the primary chips powering AI workloads, and the company holds a dominant position in AI training, as most early code was written on its CUDA software platform and optimized for its chips.

With Space Exploration Technologies and most neoclouds exclusively using its GPUs, the company still has huge growth ahead. Meanwhile, Nvidia is more than just a GPU company today, having transformed itself into a full-fledged AI infrastructure player whose networking portfolio, central processing units (CPUs), and inference chips can deliver end-to-end servers that provide turnkey solutions for specific AI tasks.

The current analyst consensus is for Nvidia to produce adjusted EPS of $28.79 in fiscal year 2031 (ending in January 2031). However, I think that is low, and the company could generate adjusted EPS close to $41.50 in fiscal year 2021 and $48.55 in fiscal year 2032. Using just a market multiple of 19 times (the S&P 500's forward P/E multiple), the stock could be worth around $922 by the end of 2030, and those 15.7 shares valued at $14,475.

Advanced Micro Devices (6.5 shares)

For our AI chip basket, you can buy six shares of AMD at today's $507.93 price. AMD is a play on the rise of AI agents, with its CPUs for training and its GPUs for inference. The company is a leader in the server CPU market and has projected it can capture a 50% share of what will become a $220 billion market in 2030.

Meanwhile, the company's GPUs are well-suited for inference, and it has already secured large commitments from OpenAI, Meta Platforms, and Anthropic. This should be the company's biggest growth driver in the coming years.

Analysts currently forecast that AMD's adjusted EPS will reach $44.31 in 2030. If it can grow its EPS by another 20% in 2031, that would bring its 2031 EPS to $53.14. Place a 19-times forward P/E multiple on the stock, and it would be worth $1,010 at the end of 2030. A 6.5-share investment, meanwhile, would be worth $6,565.

Broadcom (10.3 shares)

Rounding out our semiconductor basket, you can purchase 10.3 shares of Broadcom based on today's $323.24 price.

The company is the leader in custom AI chips and data center networking. While Nvidia dominates the mass compute market with its GPUs, hyperscalers have been increasingly turning to Broadcom to help them develop custom AI ASICs (application-specific integrated circuits) to lower costs. As a result, it sees its AI chip revenue climbing fourfold over the next two years to $230 billion in fiscal 2028 (which ends in October 2028).

The current consensus is that Broadcom's adjusted EPS will climb to $52.15 in fiscal 2031 (which ends in October 2031). If you once again apply just a market multiple to the consensus EPS estimate, Broadcom's stock would trade at roughly $990 in late 2030. That would value your investment at roughly $10,197 by the end of 2030.
