A 10% revenue miss in its data center division and expanding supply chain wait times sent TTM Technologies (NASDAQ:TTMI) tumbling 21.3% this week, turning a record quarterly report into a sharp sell-off.

TTM Technologies stock changed hands at $73.89 as of the close on Thursday, Oct. 22, down 21.3% from Friday, Oct. 16's close through Thursday, Oct. 22's close, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence. Over the same period, the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) was flat, and the Nasdaq-100 was down 0.8%.

Supply chain bottlenecks and growing debt overshadow record sales

TTM Technologies reported record third-quarter revenue of $1.20 billion, up 59.9% year over year to clear the Wall Street consensus of $1.13 billion, while adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.46 easily beat the $1.26 estimate. So why did the stock drop? On the earnings call, management revealed that supply chain wait times for critical components expanded to 24 weeks, driving its data center and networking division 10% below internal targets. The stock was already down 67% (as of the close on Thursday, Oct. 22) from its 52-week high of $223.83, and this week's news triggered renewed selling.

TTM Technologies manufactures complex printed circuit boards and custom circuit systems that connect electronic components for aerospace, defense, and technology companies. Beyond operational delays, the company announced a $650 million cash deal to acquire Ophir Optics from MKS and a $400 million manufacturing expansion in Asia, pushing fourth-quarter revenue guidance of $1.42 billion to $1.44 billion slightly below the $1.44 billion consensus midpoint. Rising debt from recent acquisitions adds roughly $20 million per quarter in incremental interest expense, increasing capital intensity just as revenue growth faces delivery friction.

While the company's aerospace and defense backlog reached a record $2 billion, higher interest expenses and supply bottlenecks threaten to crimp near-term cash flow generation. Management expects total fiscal 2026 revenue between $4.47 billion and $4.49 billion, but investors are focusing on near-term execution hurdles. This week's supply chain delays and acquisition debt invert the investment case from seamless AI expansion to an execution test under heavy capital burdens.

What's next for TTM Technologies

Investors will need to see how quickly management reduces component lead times and integrates its recent purchases. The company ended last quarter with $507.9 million in cash and short-term investments as of June 29, 2026, against $1.1 billion in total debt, including lease obligations, making balance sheet discipline vital as higher interest costs take effect.

TTM Technologies trades at a trailing price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 32.4. The next major catalyst arrives on Feb. 3, 2027, when the company reports fourth-quarter results, alongside the pending mid-2027 closure of the $650 million Ophir Optics acquisition.

Is TTM Technologies stock a buy?

Undeniably, TTM Technologies scored a victory last quarter, setting a new company record for Q3 revenue. Noteworthy as this may be, it's not enough to overshadow the material concerns facing the company right now: rising debt levels and supply chain lead times expanding to up to 24 weeks, causing the data center segment to miss quarterly targets by 10%.

Unless TTM Technologies plunges much further and begins trading at a more reasonable valuation, this tech stock is one to keep tabs on from the sidelines for the time being.
