What this transaction means for investors

The sales transaction shouldn't cause any alarm bells to go off. While Sherry is a key insider, his reason for selling isn't based on his personal point of view.

That's because he disposed of the shares to satisfy his tax withholding obligation due to the vesting of restricted stock units. The company mandates these sales, and they aren't conducted based on the executive's discretion.

Similarly, Chief Accounting Officer Michele O'Connor also conducted stock sales for the same reason.

However, while the share sales aren't noteworthy, ServiceTitan's stock hasn't performed well. Over the last year, through Oct. 1, the shares lost 33.6%. That badly lagged the Nasdaq Composite's 20.3% total return.

ServiceTitan's revenue has been growing, including 21% year over year in the fiscal second quarter (ended July 31). However, the company continues to lose money. It had an operating loss of $27.6 million, based on generally accepted accounting principles, versus $34.8 million a year ago.
