TradingKey - Meta Stock Pulls Back After Two Attempts at $750: Has the Bullish Rally Come to an End?

On September 23, Eastern Time, Meta (META) remained blocked at $750 and continued to fluctuate below it. In pre-market trading, Meta rose 0.16% to trade temporarily at $737.79. Over the previous two days, Meta's stock price broke above $750 intraday, but failed to hold above that level at the close, reflecting heavy underlying selling pressure.

On September 21, Meta surged over 11% in a single day, forcefully breaching the strong resistance at the $700 mark, a level it had failed to effectively break through despite multiple attempts since February this year. The key catalyst behind the sudden surge in Meta's stock price was its newly launched AI assistant (Muse) topping the App Store download charts, proving that its AI investments are translating into user retention and consumer-grade applications. Furthermore, its partnerships with PayPal and Shopify demonstrated the potential of AI agentic commerce.

As Meta's stock price approaches $750 and enters a state of stagnation, it may retest $700 in the short term. Over the medium to long term, Meta's stock price is expected to challenge its all-time high of $796.25. Currently, Meta's forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio stands at around 27 times; relative to its high revenue and earnings growth, the valuation does not appear excessively bubbly.

Meta's AI smart advertising system has delivered significant conversion rate improvements for advertisers, driving sustained double-digit growth in advertising revenue and demonstrating robust cash-flow generation capability. Going forward, as long as quarterly fundamentals—such as ad revenue and the pace of AI monetization—do not deteriorate, any pullbacks can be viewed as buying opportunities.

In the general view of Wall Street investment banks, Meta's stock price still has room to rise. Several Wall Street investment banks raised Meta's target price above $800 in September, issuing Buy or Overweight ratings. Among them, Citi maintained a bullish target of $800, Wedbush raised its target from $620 to $820, and Jefferies raised its target from $710 to $875.
