Ethereum Price Forecast: Glamsterdam upgrade launches on Sepolia testnet

Ethereum's (ETH) latest upgrade, Glamsterdam, aimed at advancing the L1 scaling roadmap, went live on the Sepolia testnet on Tuesday, bringing the mainnet launch a step closer.

Glamsterdam launches on Sepolia after last-minute Prysm update

Ethereum community contributor Pooja Ranjan confirmed the launch in an X post, noting that developers, projects and infrastructure providers can now test compatibility with the upcoming changes before they hit mainnet.

Testnets are staged digital environments mimicking mainnet, where developers test and validate code changes before mainnet deployment.

Glamsterdam, a combination of the Amsterdam execution layer and Gloas consensus layer upgrades, features 18 core and 7 supporting networking and informational Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).

The major changes from Glamsterdam include enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS) and block-level access lists (BALs), which lay the groundwork to boost execution capacity while ensuring block verification remains practical for node operators, according to a September 28 blog post by the Ethereum Foundation.

Glamsterdam will also increase the gas limit from 60 million to 200 million, enabling the network to process more transactions and complex computations in a block. Gas is the unit used to measure the computational effort needed to execute transactions on Ethereum.

Prysm released a last-minute update to automatically apply the new gas limit for validators on Sepolia before the update went live on the testnet.

If Glamsterdam continues to run smoothly on Sepolia without hiccups, developers will decide a date for the upgrade to go live on Hoodi before considering the mainnet launch.

Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin at the OKX NOW event on Tuesday highlighted that over the next two years, onchain applications will increasingly become integrated with AI, where bots could handle most front-end onchain interactions. However, he also noted that AI introduces a few structural changes.

Ethereum technical outlook: ETH could bounce off the 20-day

Ethereum saw $15.3 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours, led by $10.5 million in long liquidations, according to Coinglass data.

On the daily chart, ETH maintains a bullish near-term bias as price holds above the 20-, 50- and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs). The clustering of short- and medium-term EMAs beneath price reinforces underlying demand, while the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) around 60 suggests constructive but not overbought momentum, leaving room for further upside as the token stays supported above these averages.

On the topside, initial resistance is seen at the recent horizontal barrier near $2,781, ahead of a higher cap at $3,075 and a more distant hurdle at $3,260.

On the downside, immediate support sits at the 20-day EMA around $2,656, followed by a dense demand zone formed by horizontal levels at $2,631 and $2,558. Below, the 50-day EMA sits at $2,500, with a $2,363 horizontal level, strengthened by the 100-day EMA at $2,329.
