US: Initial Jobless Claims decline to 207K vs 215K expected

  • Initial Jobless Claims dropped to 207K in the week ending April 11, below forecasts.
  • Continuing Jobless Claims increased to 1.818M from a previous revised 1.787M.

The US Department of Labor (DOL) reported that the number of US citizens filing new applications for unemployment insurance decreased to 207K for the week ending April 11, down 11K from the previous week's revised level.

Additionally, the advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending April 4 was 1,818,000, an increase of 31,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised down by 7,000 from 1,794,000 to 1,787,000.

Market reaction

The US Dollar (USD) was not affected by data, maintaining its moderate strength across the FX board as investors await clarity about potential negotiations between the United States and Iran.
