Stock Market Today, Sept. 11: HPE Surges on AI Infrastructure Demand and Recently Raised Guidance

Source Motley_fool

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE), an enterprise servers and networking provider, closed at $62.09, up 12.43%. Investors focused on its AI infrastructure positioning and stronger demand across AI systems, networking, and hybrid cloud.
Trading volume reached 33.7 million shares, coming in about 58% above its three-month average of 21.3 million shares. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) IPO'd in 2015 and has grown 545% since going public.

How the markets moved today

The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) closed at 7,656, rising 0.84%, while the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) finished at 26,333, up 0.96%. Among technology hardware and enterprise infrastructure peers, Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) closed at $567.30, up 11.98%, and Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) closed at $199.59, up 5.61%, as AI server and networking demand stayed in focus.

What this means for investors

Confidence in continued AI infrastructure spending was bolstered by Oracle's (NYSE:ORCL) strong results last night. That helped maintain momentum after HPE reported record results last week.

Oracle beat expectations mainly due to its data center strength. Its large capital spending plans are on track. That supports what HPE said in its report on Sept. 2, where it raised fiscal 2026 guidance for both earnings and revenue.

AI spending remains the key driver, and as long as it continues to grow, HPE shareholders should see positive results.
