Reuters poll: Fed likely to resume cutting rates in September
59 of 105 economists polled by Reuters said that they expect the Federal Reserve (Fed) to resume cutting interest rates in the next quarter, likely in September.
More than 60% of polled economists also said that they see the Fed lowering the policy rate at least twice this year.
According to the findings, the US economy is forecast to expand by 1.4% in 2025 and 1.5% in 2026.

The US Dollar (USD) Index showed no immediate reaction to this headline and was last seen trading flat on the day at 99.00.

Monetary policy in the US is shaped by the Federal Reserve (Fed). The Fed has two mandates: to achieve price stability and foster full employment. Its primary tool to achieve these goals is by adjusting interest rates. When prices are rising too quickly and inflation is above the Fed’s 2% target, it raises interest rates, increasing borrowing costs throughout the economy. Quantitative tightening (QT) is the reverse process of QE, whereby the Federal Reserve stops buying bonds from financial institutions and does not reinvest the principal from the bonds it holds maturing, to purchase new bonds. It is usually positive for the value of the US Dollar.
