For crypto investors, the good news is that XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is still in positive territory for the year, up a respectable 5% in 2025.

The bad news, however, is that XRP has fallen off a cliff recently, and is now trading close to the $2 mark. That's a stunning 40% decline from its 52-week high.

For good reason, short-term momentum traders are heading for the exits. But for long-term, patient investors, XRP at a price of $2 might be the best investment they make all year.

New spot XRP ETFs

The major reason for optimism is the recent launch of new spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). All of a sudden, big institutional investors have a quick, easy way to get access to the world's fourth-largest cryptocurrency.

Already, nearly $1 billion has flowed into XRP, as investors look to diversify their crypto holdings beyond just Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH). It's easy to see how this tsunami of new money is going to help push up the price of XRP over the long haul, while providing a safe floor for investors.

Price targets for XRP

So just how much higher can XRP go? The sky is the limit, according to many crypto analysts and investors. It's easy to find price targets well above the $10 price level, and even some as high as $100. At today's prices, that's anywhere from a 5-fold to 50-fold return on investment.

Of course, XRP has teased investors before with outrageous hype and buzz. That being said, Standard Chartered thinks XRP could hit a price of $12.50 by the end of 2028.

So if all goes according to plan -- and, admittedly, that's a big "if" -- a relatively tiny investment in XRP now could pay off big later.
